HIGHLIGHTS

1)PASSENGER AMENITIES & SAFETY

During 2014-15

Passenger Safety & Security

i)Train Protection Warning System (TPWS) commissioned between Dum Dum – New Garia to enhance passenger safety.

ii)Train Radio communication system replaced with GSMR to improve communication for better emergent situation management.

iii)Joint less AFTC coded track circuit for dual detection provided in Dum Dum – Kavi Subhash section for improving Punctuality performance.

iv)No consequential accidents in last 3 years.

v)New Integrated Security System with 661 Nos. IP based camera having facility of monitoring both at Station level as well as Central Control introduced.

Train Service Improvement

i)Metro Train service duration increased. Now Metro services are available from 06:45 hrs to 22:45 hrs w.e.f 21.5.2015, earlier services were available from 07:00 hrs to 22:34 hrs.

ii)Saturday train services increased from 202 Nos. to 224 Nos.w.e.f 4.4.2015 Sunday train services increased from 92 Nos. to 110 Nos. w.e.f 5.4.2015

iii)Total 312 nos. extra trains were run during September, 2014 to cater the pre-puja rush. Extra services were run o­n weekends to cater to the requirements of puja shoppers. A total of 172 additional services were run o­n the Saturdays of the month and a total of 140 additional services were run o­n the Sundays.

Passenger Amenity

i)Three new escalators were commissioned at Jatin Das Park station in August, 2014, at Mahatma Gandhi Road station in September, 2014 and at Esplanade Station o­n 29.3.2015 for improving passenger amenities.

ii)4 No. new 200 ton capacity centralised AC plants have been provided at Jatin Das Park station in place of over-aged plants.

iii)Face-lifting of Entry/Exit of dispersals byproviding ‘Murals” from Belgachia to Rabindra Sarobar stations have been completed.

iv)1600 No. LED tubes have been provided in underground stations to improve illumination with reduced power consumption.

v)Printed and illuminated box-type signages as per International Signs have been provided at Rabindra Sadan, J. D. Park, Girish Park, M. G. Road, Rabindra Sarobar, Park Street and Netaji Bhavan.

vi)17 No. tube-well pumps and 17 No. dewatering pumps have been provided in place of over-aged pumps.

2)STAFF WELFARE

i)Accommodation for Noapara Branch office, MTPRMU has been allotted during 2014-15.

ii)PNM meeting with MTPRMU has been conducted in December, 2014.

iii)The first Participation of Railway Employees in Management (PREM) meeting held o­n 04.04.2014 in Metro Railway with the constituent members of group since Metro Railway got Zonal status o­n 29.12.2010.

iv)Engagement of different specialists in the hospital:-

      a) HVS Physician (b) Skin (Dermatologist) c) Eye (Ophthalmologist) d) ENT e) Dental Surgeon(Part Time).

v)Echocardiography Colour Doppler Machine, TMT and Modern Dental Machines provided.

vi)Digital X-ray Machine has been installed.

vii)Complicated surgery including ENT cases and o­ncosurgeries are being done regularly.

viii)Health screening camp for staff and officers are regularly organised.

ix)Metro Railway’s auditorium at Belgachia has been renovated and Air Conditioned.

x)One lift installed at 200X Railway Officers’ Flats.

xi)Four No. Omega make lifts renovated at Metro Bhavan.

xii)3 nos. RO Plant commissioned during the year 2014-15 at NoaparaCarshed, Noapara Administrative Building and Crew Lobby of Kavi Subhas station. 

xiii)Ladies change rooms have been provided at all the 17 underground Metro Stations and 2 Traction Substations at Belgachia & Jatin Das Park.

xiv)One Ladies Tiffin room provided in Metro Rail Bhavan.

xv)New 80-bed RPF Barrack inaugurated at Kavi Subhas o­n 29.3.2015.

xvi)In view of “Swachch Bharat Mission”, cleanliness campaign was launched in the office, colonies & stations of Metro Railway. The officers, staff & their families participated in “Shram Daan” for cleanliness activities of the colony in true spirit. Special cleanliness campaign was taken up in the colonies of Metro Railway.

xvii)Total 638 Promotions/MACP cases have been finalized in the financial year 2014-15 which is the highest in last 3 years.

xviii)Restructuring in Metro Railway as per the Railway Board’s instructions has been completed in the year 2014-15.

xix)More than 77 seniority lists have been updated and published.

xx)Medical cards to retired staff has been systematized and being issued o­n the date of retirement.

3)EFFORTS FOR ENERGY CONSERVATION

i)6000 LED Tube Lights provided and 2000 planned during 2015-16. (Annual savings of Rs. 867/ Tube Light corresponding to 125 Units of Electrical energy / Tube light).

ii)9 VVVF Drives provided for large capacity ventilation fan motors and 6 planned during 2015-16. (Annual savings of Rs.9.33 lakh / Drive corresponding to 1.33 lakhUnits of Electrical energy / Drive).

iii)One 10 kWp & o­ne 20 kWp Grid connected Solar Power Plants provided and two 10 kWp Grid connected Solar Power Plants planned during 2015-16. (Annual reduction of 1080 units/ kWp Solar Plant approx.)

iv)One 300 ltrs/day capacity Solar Water Heater provided and two 500 litres/day capacity Solar Heater Plant planned during 2015-16. (Annual savings of approx 14 units/ ltrs capacity.)

4)ACTIONS TAKEN TO SIMPLIFY OFFICE PROCEDURES

Following action has been taken to simplify office procedures:

·Settlement payments through NEFT have been introduced w.e.f. August, 2014.

·Telephone Bills are being paid through NEFT under a corporate ID in a consolidated cheque, which allows further rebates.

·PLB (Bonus) has been paid through Bank by way of ECS/NEFT/STEP for the first time in favour of the employees drawing salary through Bank before Durga Puja.

i)One R.O plant for drinking water for staff at Car Shed of Kavi Subhash Station.

ii)Work Station for the office staff of Engineering Department.

iii)Renovation of canteen of Metro Rail Bhavan.

iv)Expansion of RPF barrack at Belgachia.

v)Special cleanliness drive have been planned for staff colonies, circulating area and gardens at dispersals of Metro stations, in view of “Passenger and Customer Facilitation Fortnight –  Railyatri/Upbhokta Pakhwada” to be observed from 26.05.2015 to 09.06.2015.

vi)Tree plantation has been planned at NOAPARA and in staff colonies in view of “World Environment Day o­n 05.06.2015”.

vii)Replacement of o­ne lift at Metro Bhavan.

viii)Two Nos. lifts shall be commissioned at IPD building of Tapan Sinha Hospital.

6)    ON GOING PROJECTS

To expand Metro network , work for four major Metro Railway projects viz Joka-BBD Bag with extension from Joka to Diamond Park, Dumdum Airport- New Garia via Rajarhat, Baranagor- Barrackpore & Dakshineswar, Noapara- Barasat via Bimanbandar are in progress.

60TH RAILWAY WEEK FUNCTION CELEBRATED IN METRO RAILWAY

DUM DUM, BEST MAINTAINED METRO STATION

Kolkata, 15th April, 2015:-

The 60thRailway Week 2015 of Metro Railway, Kolkata was held at Belgachia Auditorium of Metro Railway today (15.04.2015).

Shri Radhey Shyam,General Manager honoured the selected band of sincere and dedicated Staff & officers who have rendered their meritorious services to the Railways.  He alsodistributed Cash Awards, Medals and Certificates of merits to the employees of Metro Railway for their exemplary devotion to duty and meritorious services.  As many as   75 individual awards and 71 Group Awards were distributed.

This year, Dum Dum Metro station was given a special award for best maintained station for cleanliness & overall upkeepment.

     Shri Radhey Shyam, in his address said that every employee of Metro Railway has worked with their dedication. He also urged upon the Metro employees to work hard with more dedication to provide more & more services to our valued Metro users who repose their confidence o­n the system everyday.
